Our Buds class provides a gentle transition into our structured preschool program. The Buds class is open to students from 1-3 years of age and introduces children to carefully designed learning environment with age-appropriate activities in various learning centers such as blocks, art, dramatic play, science, math and library corner. Children explore their interests in their community and the world around them with an emphasis on the natural environment.
Small group math and literacy activities provide a solid foundation for our Sprouts academic curriculum. Montessori-based activities at this age put an emphasis on practical life skills including dressing, eating independently, washing hands, and toileting. We introduce Baby Sign and incorporate sign language throughout the class session to build communication skills. Social Emotional learning opportunities focus on recognizing emotions and expressing them effectively, communicating needs and transitioning from parallel play to peer play.
Enrollment in the Buds class is limited to four children so the teacher-mentor can assist with the process of learning these essential skills.
Our Buds core class is available from 9:00 AM-Noon Monday-Friday. Extended care is available from 7:30 AM-6:30 PM at additional cost. Our extended hours include responsive caregiving, opportunities for rest in a calm environment and child-directed play indoors and outdoors.
